Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal is set to visit Milwaukee, Wisconsin, at the end of September 2026 to participate in the G20 Trade Ministerial.
The two-day event, starting on September 30, will focus on key global trade issues, including forced labor, the Most-Favored Nation (MFN) principle, and trade weaponization in food.

Impact & Risks

The visit is significant for India as it seeks to finalize the first phase of the BTA with the US. The agreement could provide Indian exporters a competitive edge, especially in light of the US imposing a 10% tariff on several countries, including India. However, delays in negotiations and tariff changes could impact India's trade dynamics. India exported goods worth $87 billion to the US in 2025-26, making the US a critical trade partner.
